The Bombing

of Darwin in VR

VIRTUAL REALITY

EXPERIENTIAL

PRODUCED BY METHOD, SYDNEY

As  VFX Supervisor of  “The Bombing of Darwin” experience for The Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum, Andrew Lodge, VI Visual Effect Supervisor, created an accurate historical depiction of the Japanese attack on the city of Darwin, 19th February 1942.

“To achieve this we took literally thousands of photos of the Darwin location and 3d scanned ships, weapons and historical WW2 props” Said Andrew "We filmed talent in authentic WW2 attire.

We then built CG models from the scans and placed them in a 360 degree environment in accordance to the history books. The most rewarding part of the job was the positive reactions of the accomplished historians that were elated when they saw the VR experience”.
